In the continuing saga of the Candy Forum (which it will henceforth be known as, no matter how many other name iterations or ownership changes it undergoes), it has now been moved to a different site entirely, under new owner Raine.

Instead of being "christianhomemaking" at webs.com, it is now "christianhomemakers."

Thank you for bearing with the craziness of the past few days. As you've probably noticed, I really don't know what I'm doing, LOL. When I started the Member's Area/Forum, I wasn't expecting it to grow so quickly. I thought I'd have a small group, and could learn as I went.

Boy, was I wrong. The Forum's membership grew to over 300 at an alarmingly fast rate. This is GREAT, because it shows that there is a large group of Christian homemakers who wish to uplift each other, and fellowship. Unfortunatly, I don't have the time or experience to manage this right now.

It would be unfair to both you and myself to continue trying. Sisters, I was getting so overwhelmed, because not only was I trying to run my home and manage the site, but I was still trying to figure out how to use it, LOL. Many of you couldn't log in for a greater part of yesterday. I found out it was my fault. I clicked a setting that I didn't understand and messed it up. Sorry. :-?

There is some great news, however. Raine, as you know, was made an administrator on my site, and she is doing a fantastic job. She has experience in this, and knows how to do it. She also has already gotten quite a grasp on how to run the settings.

I asked Raine if she would like to completely run the site, and she said she'd like to. She and I decided it would be best if she start a new website, and the member's area move over there. This is because I also use my webs website as a personal site to store hidden files that I use often, so I couldn't just hand this site over, without a LOT of file transferring and shuffling. I've had this site longer than it's been public.

Those of you who have downloaded my free ebook have probably noticed that it downloads from this site, for example.

Anyways, get ready to bookmark the following URL as the new Member's Site, owned and run by our sister in Christ, Raine. Here is the URL for the new site:

The new site is going to be an amazing place to fellowship. I think it will bless and encourage you in your Christian and homemaking walk. At your ealiest convience, please go to the above URL and sign up for your membership there. Raine is working hard to get the site set up, and she hopes to have it fairly operational by Monday or Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the old site, owned by me, will be taken down on Tuesday, and I will resume using it as a private site for my personal use, as I used to.

Thank you for being such good online friends in Christ. It truly was wonderful to reconnect with all of you. I won't disapear again without a warning. Please accept my appology for doing that the first time. I didn't mean to upset anyone.

One of our devoted fans and commenters, kynsie, puts forth a theory:

the forum has moved, but i think its the same forum. if you look at the old one, all of candy's posts are singed off as rain, but 'rain" said she couldn't take control of the sight, even though it says site owner underneath now. another thing is candy is not a member at the new sight, which makes me think she is the owner- there's only one other moderator now too.

Sorry, kynsie. Interesting and fun theory, but I don't think it holds water. Here's why:

Candy's original site owner profile for the original forum used the name "Candy." The user number for Candy's profile is 65747689:

I know this is Candy's profile because, for one thing, it still lists her as 33 years old, whereas the real Raine is 28 and it says so in her profile. The second thing is, the comments left underneath her profile, from users who signed up when the site was new, address her as "Candy" directly and welcome her back to the fold. Clearly, they left these comments when the profile was still Candy's by name.

Third, before Candy changed the name to "Raine," she posted the topic "Test Post" under her profile's second name (".") and then deleted it. (When she decided to hand the site over, Candy briefly changed the name on her profile to "." but was still listed as the owner.)

I saw this happen live yesterday, but didn't capture a screenshot. However, "Test Post" still shows up in her profile in Recently Activity. Raine was NOT the one who originally posted that topic, nor did she respond to it before it was deleted. Thus, it DOES NOT show up under her Recent Activity:

Candy subsequently changed the name on her profile from "." to "Raine," simply so Raine would show up as the site owner, but the profile was still Candy's. How do I know this? Because the actual Raine's profile has a different user number, 71229464:

Indeed, Raine's own user profile (not as site owner, but just as Administrator) still existed on the original site, just below Candy's:

I believe this was Candy's ham-handed way of trying to clear confusion and explicitly put Raine forth as the official site owner.

Raine's Site Owner profile on the NEW site has the same user number as her Admin profile on Candy's old site, 71229464:

Candy may, indeed, have tried to "hand the site over" to Raine directly, but perhaps site ownership cannot be transferred to another user- probably because it would make it easy for someone to break into your profile and take away your ownership- and that would partially explain (in addition to Candy needing to transfer all her files off the site) why Raine would need to start a new forum in order to gain ownership.

Occam's razor would suggest that a convoluted identity change via starting a new site under a new user number, while inexplicably and pointlessly changing the name of her original user profile to "Raine" on the old site, is a far less likely explanation.

If Candy wanted to lurk under a pseudonym, all she would have to do would be to change her site owner's screen name to "Raine," AND THEN pretend to be that person, with or without much involvment in the site, explaining that Candy had handed her the site and the user number.

That would have been far easier, but a much more obvious ruse. We all know that Candy prefers to mislead by omission or exaggeration, and it is normally unsophisticated and obvious about it. She's a terrible liar, frankly, and is more guilty of exaggeration than bald-faced lying, in my opinion.

Something this bizarre and complicated wouldn't be her style, and it wouldn't make any practical sense anyway.

But thanks for playing, kynsie! We appreciate any and all conspiracy theories involving Candy.

Candy, You Have Been Unmasked!

So, let's have a recap of recent events, shall we?

Candy starts a forum. People like this forum. Lots of people join it, and they chat about things and pretty much have a good time. All of Candy's old online friends seem to have been waiting in the wings for a blissful reunion.

And it is, actually, one of the few of Candy's online communities that hasn't been riddled with active trolls. Sure, trolls might be there to observe *cough* but they're silent, since they know they will be kicked out anyway. Who knows, if they stayed there to observe long enough, maybe they'd even be won over to participating in good faith?

But something happens: a messy kitchen, a re-emerging internet addiction, or perhaps, just perhaps, an old anti-Candy site rising like a Phoenix from the ashes, causing our fair heroine a moment of sheer, blind panic. The site is yanked. Then partially restored.

People wonder what happened, naturally. Even Candy's supporters show some frustration and disappointment with the flightiness of it all.

I can't believe I got sucked into her drama again. For Pete's sake, you don't even have to finish a project just stick with one for more than a couple of weeks. The excuses are endless.

Did someone let the Candy archives out of the bag? Is that what is going on here?

I got three emails. One wanting to know if I wanted to be site admin. One telling me the site was closed and one telling me that the site was back open . What is going on? And were they really from Candy? Or were they from someone else?

No doubt they were from Candy/Rebecca/whoever on Saturday. This is not the first time something like this has happened.

It bothers me when she brings others (groups of like minded women) into her unstable "projects" and then drops them like hot potatoes.

I received the same emails, so I logged on here wondering if I had been a moderator this whole time, lol. No. In all probability this forum has just become like FB is to most people for Candy.

I got sucked into myspace when it first came out to the detriment of my housekeeping, mothering, etc. The first & simplest solution was for me to close my account after months of idleness. As administrator Candy can't just close the account w/out deleting the whole forum...which I feel would be unfair & I'm sure she & her husband have decided the same so she's offering an opportunity to keep it open through delegation or instruction for a new meeting place. Both viable, fair options.

I think this is our fault as an online fellowship. You can't see that someone had over 2 or 300 replies & not know that they must be neglecting their God given tasks & none of us would rebuke or offerJethro's advice as to Moses; "this people be too numerous for ye."

& withal they learn to be idle,wandering about from house to house...I will therefore that the younger women...guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. I Tim 5: 13,14, all butchered up & cobbled together.

This has been my favorite "house" to visit these last few weeks & more than once I've looked up & realized supper wasn't thawed, the baby was down to 1 stack of diapers & needed a wash now, etc. Show some mercy.

The odd thing that concerns me of hacking is it said I was a moderator. I am not. I have no qualms helping on the board at all. The email stating an incorrect infomation abou my account seemed worrisome.

I can see that [redacted] but Candy is very scheduled and dedicated to her family. My thought would be that she would just schedule some computer tim. I guess I will wait to respond to the email until I really know it's Candy and not a hacker.

I came here too after reading the e-mails. I don't think there's necessarily any drama going on here. It started off small and cozy and now, how many members do we have? People are posting in the blog area, on the forum, posting videos, etc. The more we post the more there is for Candy to read.

I just wanted to make sure that the e-mails were legit and not spam. While I don' thave a lot of time on my hands either, I would be willing to moderate a "room" here if it would help keep things open.

Perhaps instead of turning it over to us, she could remain site admin but assign each volunteer a "room" to monitor. Then only report to her anything that concerns us or doesn't meet whatever guidelines she has for the site.

I can certainly understand the ability to get sucked in here and let other things slide.

So, did she send out the mail to all members asking for admins? Seems to me that Candy made a rash decision, then realized maybe that isn't what she wanted. She's done this before with a Yahoo group, too. Candy, there are ways of dealing with a forum and your home. I work, moderate a forum, and keep my home... If you want to chat, let me know. Well, I will keep my eyes open and see what's going on.

Right now, [redacted] & I are the admins. Candy may be adding more. I don't plan to make any big changes or anything, just keep the site up and keep an eye out for spam or trolling (not that either have been a problem).

I don't think there is any "drama" going on. I think it is commendable when someone can see their limits and know to take a step back. I also thik it is pretty obvious that Candy is very devoted to her family and household, and I see no reason to be upset. She and her husband decided to keep the forums open, but delegate, she is still the site owner, she just got site admins to keep the forums up.

I think we can stop being so rude...I am personally happy that this community of women is able to stay intact....we can still have fellowship, and share ideas, ect. It's not a big deal. smile

Don't worry, be happy now...

Ad I, also, don't plan on making any big changes to the site. Just happy to be a part of keeping it here.

They grumble, and are subsequently soothed. It looks like everyone may be able to take a deep breath, move past the disappointment and confusion, and seem to carry on...

...and then she yanks the forum AGAIN.

In what, more perfect way could someone turn former friends into doubters? Silent trolls into vocal ones?

I have come to a realization: Candy is her own troll.

Why else would she purposely work to alienate her own supporters?

The entire Conundrum of Candy MUST be performance art, and we are all pawns in her game.

Okay, a LOT has been happening, LOL. I took down the site, then my husband reminded me that there are a lot of ladies there who would still like to fellowship with each other. So, I felt bad, and brought the site back up.

Then, I sent out an email that was supposed to go only my moderators, inviting them to become admins, but I guess I hit the wrong button, because the email went out to everyone.

THEN (oh yes, there's more lol) there was some illegal phishing site that came up on webs, which caused member pages to be blocked by many ISP, like it was last month. So... now even though the member's site is back up, a lot of members can't get in, because their ISP is blocking it. Strangely, I wasn't able to get in about two days ago, even though many others could. I sent an email about that, asking people to let me know if they couldn't get in. I was only able to get in if I logged in as the site owner, and even then, it was wiggy, and I couldn't access everything.

Now I can access it again just fine, but have been getting a lot of emails from people who can't get in.

I really enjoyed having the member's area with you all, but I had to close it. It was taking up too much of my time, was a lot of work, and a lot of responsibility. It was wonderful to reconnect with you all.

I found myself chatting in the Member's Area today, while my kitchen was a mess. I was on the computer, instead of doing my homemaking duties, and I can't allow that to become a habit for me.

My responsibilities come first.

I must say, though, it was amazing running a forum and such - I never thought I would get to do that. Meanwhile, I want to let you all know that the comments on my blog are open again, at least for the time being, so you can still chat a bit there.

Also, if any of you would like to run a member's area that is a community like the one I had, here's how to do it (it's very simple to set up):

1) Go to http://www.webs.com and sign up for a free website.

2) Inside the Manage Pages section, just click on the applications button/link, and choose which apps you would like your page to have - members, forum, blog, video, photo, and even more. There are a LOT of apps you can use - I only used a few.

It's very user friendly. If any of you decide to run a community like the one I had, let me know, and I'll help get the word out.

Well, it was fun, but I need to get off of the computer, LOL.

My husband wanted me to have the member's site open, but just have someone else be the administrator, because I just can't do this anymore. I have some new projects coming onto my plate that will require a lot of my free time.

So... The member's site is back up, but I will be contacting some people about become site administrator(s) to run the site.

I need to leave the Member's Area, as I just have too much on my plate right now, LOL. I'm sending an email to all moderators, asking if any or all of you would like to become site administrators. This would give each of you the ability to accept or reject new members, or open membership to anyone, should you wish. You can add more apps that freewebs offers, such as their Prayer Request app, and more, if you wish. You would have full running of the site to do with as you wish.

If you would like to become an administrator, just reply to this, and let me know, and I'll upgrade you from moderator to administrator, and then, just whenever you have the time, just jump on, and explore, to see how it all works.

If I get multiple administrators, which is what I'm hoping for, then eventually I will turn the site's ownership over to one of them, and I'll phase out.

Well, this was my main last task on the computer tonight. I'm going to log off now, and put my feet up and relax with my husband. :-)
